What is the current status of the Local Government (Protection of Auckland Assets) Amendment Bill?

My member’s bill is due for its first reading. The bill would require the approval of a majority of Aucklanders in a referendum before the new super-city could sell off publicly owned assets. I look forward to the Minister of Local Government and his ACT colleagues voting for it—

The member was asked what the status of the bill is. He does not need to go on to that material.

What further processes is the member expecting the bill to go through?

TwyfordPHIL TWYFORD Link to this

I sincerely hope that the bill will be referred to a select committee this afternoon, and it will be if ACT or National vote for it. ACT members are very keen on referenda, and it would seem that this bill is an obvious candidate—
