Public Records Bill

This bill repeals the Archives Act 1957 and the document and archive provisions of the Local Government Act 1974 to reflect the changes in technology, legislation, and record-keeping practices over the last 47 years. It creates a framework to ensure the appropriate management of public records, broad coverage of the activities of government within the framework, and the preservation and accessibility of public archives.
