When the House resumes on Tuesday, 23 June it is the Government’s intention to make progress on the Land Transport Amendment Bill (No 4); the Parliamentary Service (Continuation of Interim Meaning of Funding for Parliamentary Purposes) Bill, if necessary; the Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading Forestry Sector) Amendment Bill, which is set down for introduction today, the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area Bill; and other bills on the Order Paper. I am pleased that the Opposition has such an interest in these matters.

Can I ask the acting Leader of the House, who does it very well, whether in fact the Government intends as it progresses the climate change legislation to adopt the offer from Labour to facilitate that on the basis that certainty will be given to industry, including the forestry industry, through having fixed dates rather than Orders in Council?

As I understand it, negotiations on issues such as the one that the member raises will proceed on a good-faith basis.
