What progress has been made in dealing with Petition 2005/0137 of Caroline Conroy and 372 others “requesting a review of legislation to ensure communities have a greater say in the number and location of liquor outlets”?

CopelandGORDON COPELAND (Acting Chairperson of the Commerce Committee) Link to this

The committee decided to refer Caroline Conroy’s petition to the Ministry of Justice, with a request for its advice. The ministry is responsible for the Sale of Liquor Act. I can advise that that advice has now been received and currently awaits further consideration by the committee.

Is the committee hopeful of reporting its deliberations back to the House by the end of this Parliament?

As I mentioned in my principal answer, the matter currently awaits further consideration by the committee, and until that happens I am unable to give a firm date. But certainly I express the hope that that would occur.
