What trends are there in New Zealand’s international education industry?

The number of international students enrolled to study in New Zealand is continuing to increase. The latest enrolment figures show a nearly 5 percent increase in numbers for the first 8 months of this year. This increase comes on top of an increase of 6 percent for 2009. International education contributes at least $2.1 billion to our economy and supports about 32,000 jobs, so it is very pleasing to see the sector continuing to grow despite strong competition from Australia and other countries.
The Government, of course, is already investing additional funds in marketing international education, with an additional $2 million in the Budget last year and again this year. The Government is confident that New Zealand has an excellent education system, and the Government—
