I have received a letter from Simon Power, seeking to debate under Standing Order 380 a report of the Ombudsmen into prisoner transportation. The report was released when I tabled it in the House today, even though it had been speculated in news media reports some days ago that the report was about to be released. In these circumstances, as Speaker’s ruling 161/1 makes clear, the application cannot be considered for an urgent debate today, though if an application is lodged tomorrow it can be considered then. The application is accordingly declined.
